She is a clinical team leader and supports education at work and in the community with mental health presentations.
Rennet identifies as a mixed-race person and is sensitive to ethnic, cultural and minority issues. Her clinical work also includes work from a body-oriented perspective, incorporating Somatic Experiencing (SE™). Rennet has a passion for connecting with clients and providing a compassionate, curious, and non-judgemental space to work on their goals using evidence-based treatments.
Rennet is trained in various clinical modalities including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Structural Family Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing. Rennet is also a certified in Compassionate Inquiry and her work recognises Brain Based Therapy and trauma informed practice.
Rennet enjoys working with diverse populations including adolescents, youth, individuals and families. She has a passion for food from her previous career as a Chef which is a vital connection for her. Exploring the healing relationship of food and families, food and mental health and food access is of great interest to her. Rennet also supports emerging Social Workers as a Sessional Lecturer at University of Toronto.
Rennet moved to Canada from Guyana at age 17 without her parents. She credits her fierce determination and resilience to the hardship of life’s lessons and bouncing back over and over again. Rennet believes as individuals we may not have had the best childhood experiences, but we can all triumph in our own way. The work in therapy is to understand that overwhelming experiences do not have to define us. Developing compassionate kindness for ourselves takes time, but we can always create new pathways and possibilities.
