Ray St-Amour (Elle/Homme)
Ray St-Amour practices counselling and therapy with individuals and couples, serving the Dufferin, Caledon, and Wellington County areas. She holds a degree in Psychology and Sociology and a B.Ed. from the University of Ottawa, a Bachelor of Social Work from York University, and a Master of Social Work (clinical stream) from Wilfrid Laurier University. Ray is a Registered Social Worker and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. She continually updates her skills through ongoing professional training to provide the most effective care to her clients.
Ray specializes in trauma and holds Clinical Traumatologist and Compassion Fatigue certifications from the Traumatology Institute in Toronto. She has also completed EMDR training and has extensive experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 3). She approaches therapy from a strengths-based perspective and tailors her methods to each client, recognizing that everyone responds differently to various modalities.
With over 30 years of experience working with individuals and youth, Ray has served in diverse settings, including women’s abuse services, mental health crisis work, and clinical roles at non-profit organizations. She has significant experience supporting clients within the LGBTQ+ community. Nothing makes Ray happier than seeing her clients grow, improve, and reach their full potential.
Ray is genuine, transparent, and collaborative in her approach. In the first appointment, she works with clients to establish therapy goals, reviewing them regularly to track progress and adjust as needed. She believes that even small steps are meaningful in helping clients refine coping strategies and achieve lasting change. Ray is fluent in both French and English and can provide counselling in either language.
