Ray St-Amour practices counselling and therapy with individuals and couples servicing the Dufferin, Caledon and Wellington County area.

Ray graduated from the University of Ottawa with a degree in psychology and sociology and her B. Ed. She has her Bachelors in Social Work from York University and her Master in Social Work in the clinical stream from Wilfrid Laurier University. Ray is continuously taking courses to learn new techniques and keep up to date with the field of psychotherapy and social work.  Ray is a Registered Social Worker. She is also registered with the Ontario Association of Social Workers.

Ray specializes in trauma and has her Clinical Traumatologist Training certificate as well as her Compassionate Fatigue training from the Traumatology Institute, Toronto. Ray has also recently completed her training in EMDR. She has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and teaches her clients the tools that they need to take the steps needed to improve and overcome their challenges, may they be stress, anxiety, depression or PTSD.  Ray also uses Emotion Focused Therapy, narrative therapy as well as working always from a strength based perspective.  She has her level 3 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy.  Ray uses a mixture of various therapy modes as she believes that each client is unique and may respond in a different way to various therapy modalities.

Ray has worked with individuals and youth in various settings for over 30 years. She has also worked in the field of woman abuse, in the mental health field as a Mobile After Hours Crisis Worker as well as a clinician for a non-profit organization. Ray has extensive experience working with individuals and couples that fit under the “lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgendered-queer-questioning” umbrella. She enjoys seeing clients in her private practice and co-leading workshops. Nothing makes Ray happier than seeing her clients improve and get better.

Ray is passionate about helping clients reach their full potential. Ray is genuine and transparent in her approach. Her goal is to help you, the client, attain your full potential. In the first appointment, you will establish your goals for therapy and they will be reviewed regularly to see if they have changed and if you are on your way to reaching them.  Ray’s goal is to see you improve and to be able to have a full life without the issues that have brought you to her door. Ray understands that small steps are important and help the client fine-tune their coping methods and reach their goals.

Ray is francophone and can counsel clients in either French or English.
