B.A., Registered Psychotherapist

Karen Skinulis is a Registered Psychotherapist providing counselling and therapy in Richmond Hill under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychological Associate who are members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Karen is a member of The Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists.
Karen specializes in working with parents, families, adolescents and individuals on a range of issues including parenting (all developmental stages), child behaviour, self-esteem, communication, anxiety/depression, divorce/separation/co-parenting, school-related concerns, and teen issues.
Without a doubt, parenting is the most important and difficult job in our society and the myriad challenges that parents face today are greater than ever. I’ve worked for the past twenty + years as a speaker, writer, and parent educator with the goal of helping parents master the tools and psychological know-how they need to be as effective as possible with their children. I follow an Adlerian approach because it’s been proven effective and provides a comprehensive understanding of child psychology and family dynamics. I also believe it fits perfectly in our times of social equality. I’ll not only work to help you better understand your child/teen’s behaviour and underlying dynamics in your family, but I’ll also provide you with concrete suggestions, tools and strategies aimed at fostering better cooperation and respect, with closer, more harmonious relationships. I know your long-term goal is to raise a child who is responsible, caring, happy and independent. I’d feel privileged to be able to assist with that worthwhile goal.
Karen has co-authored several parenting and teacher books and appeared as a guest parenting expert for a variety of popular news media – the Globe and Mail, CBC, Global TV, and City Life magazine.
