My name is Adam Riley. I am a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I provide counselling to individuals with diverse life experiences and backgrounds, offering both individual and couples therapy. I work with clients who have experienced trauma as well as anxiety and depression. I also support those with a diagnosis of ADHD and various learning disabilities. Counselling sessions will be conducted in a respectful way with an emphasis on creating a safe, caring and non-judgemental space. I am trained in evidence-based practices and follow best professional practices. Working with various treatment modalities, I am able to support people in many different situations including those undergoing significant life changes, such as the end of a relationship. I also recognize that high-stress jobs can impact relationships and can often negatively affect communication and intimacy. For both individuals and couples, I work to build positive communication skills and generally work on long and short-term goals simultaneously. I aim to help individuals/couples quickly establish new patterns, by providing immediate tools/strategies, while at the same time working on deeper therapeutic issues where necessary. This method provides ways to immediately live well in daily life while exploring and learning new skills to carry forward into the future. I employ a variety of therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Meditation, and Relational and Emotion Focussed Therapy (EFT). I am also trained in Trauma-Informed Care.
