Alysia Davies is based in Toronto and practices counselling and therapy with individuals, families, and groups throughout Ontario. She is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), and practices psychotherapy in accordance with the guidelines of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She focuses on a broad range of concerns that include workplace stress and mental health, career transitions, work-life balance, professional confidence, self-esteem, depression and mood disorders, anxiety and panic, OCD, communication and assertiveness, family conflict, addiction, and the aftermath of emotional and physical abuse. She has provided short-term counselling through employee assistance programs (EAPs) and longer-term therapy through specialized programs for depression, anxiety, and trauma. She also has particular experience with women’s mental health, including perinatal and post-partum depression and anxiety. She has worked in the hospital system with both inpatients and outpatients, including clients in acute mental health crisis who are experiencing symptoms of psychosis, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder. Alysia also provides specialized therapy and support to members of the legal profession through the Member Assistance Program (MAP) funded by the Law Society of Ontario. She is a member of the Ontario Bar, with 10 years of prior legal experience before she became a counsellor and therapist. She has presented extensively to audiences of professionals about mental health and wellness issues, and continues to conduct corporate workshops and mental health outreach on these topics. Her practice has a particular focus on cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), emotional regulation skills, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and other strengths-based, solution-focused modalities, depending on the personal needs and preferences of her clients.
