Brooke Pickersgill
Brooke is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) who earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University after completing an undergraduate degree in sociology at the University of Waterloo, specializing in crime and deviance. She has a strong passion for supporting first responders and their families, drawing on her own experience working in custody facilities for over five years and later as a member of mental health crisis teams. Brooke has held positions in a variety of accredited mental health agencies, providing both crisis response and clinical services to children, families, and adults in custodial, residential, and community settings. In addition to her private practice, she continues to work in community mental health.
These combined experiences give Brooke a deep understanding of the unique challenges first responders and their families face. She is dedicated to promoting mental wellness and helping clients develop practical strategies to enhance resilience and family functioning. Brooke has extensive experience treating anxiety and related disorders, depression, OCD, ADHD, self-esteem issues, emotion regulation difficulties, self-harming behaviours, relationship challenges, and traumatic stress.
Brooke’s therapeutic approach is informed by evidence-based models, including attachment and developmental theories, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and trauma-focused interventions. She works from a compassionate, non-judgmental lens, offering clients a space for supportive listening, validation, and understanding. In partnership with her clients, Brooke helps identify barriers, build on strengths, and foster self-awareness and balance through a collaborative, holistic approach.
