Caroline Lensen Gentles

Caroline Lensen practices counselling and therapy in Toronto under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychological Associate who are members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Caroline has practised couple and individual psychotherapy for over 35 years. In addition to her established private practice, she has worked in a variety of settings, including the Donwood Institute (an addiction facility), and Princess Margaret Hospital where she counselled patients and families adjusting to a cancer diagnosis. There she developed expertise in sexuality and intimacy issues following cancer treatment.
Caroline holds a BA and Education from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and an MA in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School, Toronto.
Thanks to her multifaceted, clinical background, Caroline is highly competent in many areas and enjoys working with a variety of issues. She counsels couples with marital problems and sexual dysfunction, she coaches couples to have a more respectful and intimate connection. She is certified as a Relational Living coach and therapist. In her individual psychotherapy she works with trauma, anxiety, self-esteem issues, depression, relationship problems, sexual abuse and sex addiction. She enjoys helping clients overcome difficulties with shyness. Experienced in grief and bereavement therapy. While she is proactive in helping couples resolve their marital issues, she also shows parents who are considering separation how to minimize the emotional impact on their children. Caroline is experienced in assisting clients to positively and constructively co-parent and step-parent in new family situations.
Caroline is confident in her clients’ abilities to make changes in their life styles and behaviors. She is both respectful and supportive of each client’s individuality. Caroline is a certified EMDR therapist and uses to deal with trauma and unwanted behaviors including sexual addictions. She uses Feeling State Addiction Protocol which quickly resolves unwanted behaviors permanently.
A clinical member of the Ontario Society of Psychotherapists, she served on its board. She has lectured and presented internationally on sexuality and cancer issues. Caroline is married and cherishes her relationships with her husband, daughter and adult stepchildren.
