Elizabeth Van Houtte (she/her)
I have worked in the counselling field for over 35 years, specializing in recovery-oriented services that support mental health and well-being for individuals and couples. I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to speak freely, process their experiences, and find healing in their unique journey. For many years, my focus was in vocational rehabilitation counselling, helping individuals rebuild confidence and direction after life changes or challenges.
As a breast cancer survivor, I have personally experienced the grief, loss, and uncertainty that come with a life-altering illness. This journey has profoundly deepened my empathy and understanding of the emotional and practical struggles my clients face. My own recovery experience has reinforced my belief in the power of resilience, compassion, and self-discovery in healing.
Alongside my counselling work, I have also had the privilege of teaching and mentoring, helping others develop knowledge, insight, and confidence as they pursue their personal or professional growth. I believe that a calm, compassionate, and open dialogue fosters both strength in coping and conviction in recovery. My specialties include depression, anxiety, life transitions, coping strategies, and vocational rehabilitation—supporting individuals with disabilities as they return to work, school, or training.
