Julie Christiansen
B.A., M.A., Registered Psychotherapist

I practice counselling and therapy in St. Catharines under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychological Associate who are members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
My approach to counselling is educational and based on the philosophy that if you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, he will never go hungry. I will never do for you what you can do for yourself, which means that I strive to teach you the skills you need to deal with the particular challenges you may be facing, as well as those that are to come.
My goal is to create radical, positive, lasting change, and so I apply counselling approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Rational-Emotive Behaviour Therapy, and Reality Therapy. This approach is action-oriented and (as much as possible) focuses primarily on the present and future.
As your counsellor, I will encourage you to determine your own “answers” through the work done in our therapeutic partnership. I value your time and your privacy and am committed to offering timely services that uphold the highest standards in confidentiality.
I am a member in good standing with the CPA and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and am a General Member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP).
