Karen Searle
M.S.W., R.S.W., Registered Social Worker, Registered Psychotherapist

I have a Master’s Degree from the University of Toronto and I am a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
I have 30+ years of clinical experience in a variety of settings including children’s mental health agencies, school boards, family service agencies, university/college environments. My training includes cognitive, hypnotherapy, energy and experiential therapies.
My client-centred approach aims to address and release unwanted emotional or behavioural after-effects of life events such as grief and loss, injuries, illness, relationship concerns and other painful life experiences. I have a strong desire to support clients through life challenges and enjoy witnessing the changes possible through a positive counselling experience.
I provide a safe and welcoming environment and use a variety of strategies to assist clients in relieving emotional pain and to bring clarity and comfort to troubling personal issues. These can include unresolved trauma, job/career concerns, fear of the future, difficult relationships, anxiety, depression, body image issues, grief/loss, etc.
Counselling can assist you by increasing your confidence and self-esteem while reducing symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression. It can provide a greater perspective and a clearer idea of the underlying causes of emotional distress. This allows you to take more effective steps to address these concerns while providing you with an opportunity to move in the direction of what you truly desire in your life.
Experience a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment where you can explore the concerns, fears and past traumas that affect your life today. Working with a therapist is a unique experience that can help you change your belief and reaction patterns and move toward living the life you envision.
